Trees & Shrubs of the Bluegrass with Jess Slade

Celebrate Tree Week at Floracliff by learning about our region’s woody plants.
Join us for this tree-themed hike where we will explore the diversity of trees and shrubs that grow naturally in the Bluegrass. We will hike through a variety of habitat types from floodplain to rocky slopes to see plants adapted to the various site conditions, including some that are unique to the Kentucky River Palisades. We’ll look closely at the physical characteristics that distinguish each species and discuss identification tricks as well as the important roles our woody plants play in the surrounding ecosystem.
