Stewardship in Action Volunteer Day

Invasive plants negatively impact the health of our ecosystems. Join us to learn why invasive plants are harmful, how to identify plants that are invasive in our region, and how you can help manage them where you live, work, and play.
This will be a hands-on volunteer experience. Come ready to get dirty and help remove invasive plants at Floracliff.
August 2026: We’ll most likely be hand-pulling/digging invasive chafflower during this volunteer workday. This plant frequently grows on our floodplains. The trail to and from the worksite has some steep areas with uneven ground. You will want to be comfortable with hiking on Palisades terrain to participate in this activity.
Arrive prepared for a safe workday: We have a limited supply of work gloves and safety glasses. Please let us know ahead of time if you would like to borrow a set. Many people prefer to bring their own safety glasses and work gloves (and that is okay too)!
Floracliff will provide other required tools.
