Forest Immersion: Nature Rx with Russ Turpin

October 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Explore the connections between your health and your environment through guided activities and immersive encounters with the natural world.

This program explores the connections between your health and your environment through guided activities and immersive encounters with the natural world.

The Japanese term for this type of nature program is shinrin yoku, which translates to “forest bathing”. It’s not the kind of bathing that requires soap and water. Rather, it is immersing one’s self into nature and soaking up the experience. Research has shown that when practiced regularly, shinrin yoku can reduce stress, improve mood, boost immune function, and increase mental focus and creativity. It’s not a hike, not a workout, nor is it a strict meditation. It is about being present, noticing, and letting nature gently restore calm clarity. It’s a powerful yet gentle way to reconnect with yourself and the natural world.

What we’ll be doing: Russ Turpin guides participants through nature-connection experiences that invite you to slow down and immerse yourself in the forest. A series of activities and prompts will engage your senses, explore your relationship with the natural world and find your balance. This is a slow, mindful practice, and we’ll be moving at a relaxed pace. We’ll have opportunities for sitting, gentle movement, quiet walks, and reflections.
