Floracliff is hiring! We have an opening for a part-time Land Stewardship Technician. Job duties will include stewardship and restoration projects, community science, data management and education and outreach. The position starts in September and has funding through December 2024. The deadline to apply is Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Floracliff is bringing the City Nature Challenge to Lexington for the first time this spring. The City Nature Challenge is a global community science event that mobilizes urban residents and visitors to observe, document, and celebrate wild nature in and around urban areas. This focused and collective effort increases our awareness and understanding of urban biodiversity around the world.

Our summer newsletter features the recent listing of Trail’s End on the National Register of Historic Places as well as current projects to document Floracliff’s biodiversity.

Trail’s End, a former girls’ camp, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 26, 2019. The 59-acre tract owned by Floracliff encompasses the former camp lodge, the surrounding forest used for camp activities, as well as remnants of additional camp facilities.

Floracliff recently acquired an adjacent 59 acres, bringing the total acreage of the sanctuary to 346 acres. The addition, known as Trail’s End, is protected with a conservation easement provided by the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund.
